Johanna Dorothea Burman, daughter of Andrew (Johhnsson) Burman and married J. P. Johnson and lived in the Lanyon, Iowa area throughout her life. She is the mother of Esther (Rohden), Lizzie (Lindgren), Amy (Lindgren), Obed Simon and Nellie (Anderson).
We will be adding much more content to this page, but want to call your attention to Psalm 25, which she loved and we believe may have inspired her to make an amazing, incredible trek across 14 miles of field, forest, wetlands and streams to reach Swede Bend, Iowa in the late 1800s. The then new Covenant church at Swede Bend was the base for the legendary minister, Carl Bjork. Psalm 25 can be viewed here.
Johanna Dorothea’s quest is shrouded in some mystery but we believe she found a spiritual foundation that led to church expansion to her home town of Lanyon.
We hope other family members will use this page to share stories about this amazing woman.
